David R. Shoop is a nationally recognized trial lawyer. At the start of his legal career, David tried and litigated numerous, multi-million dollar cases, representing some of the world's largest companies and their insurance carriers. Since that time, David now represents exclusively personal injury victims, with the primary focus of his practice related to catastrophic personal injury and burn injury cases caused by defective products and defective medical devices. David Shoop is a tireless advocate for those consumers injured by defective products, and he has recovered millions of dollars for victims, including millions of dollars in punitive and exemplary damages against corporations. David Shoop understands how insurance companies and manufacturers defend their claims, and now he puts his years of experience to work for you.

David Shoop has years of experience litigating catastrophic personal injury and burn injury matters and has specialized knowledge with regard to complex engineering issues, product design, product development, product testing, biomechanics, hazard identification, on-product warnings and labels, as well as accident reconstruction and analysis. David has served as lead trial counsel for global consumer electronics manufacturers in both residential and commercial fire cases and has over a decade of experience in fire cause and origin analysis and NFPA 921 standards application. David is a member of the National Fire Protection Association ("NFPA").

David Shoop has further coordinated product liability cases and complex litigation nationally, including matters venued in California, Oregon, Washington, Arizona, Texas, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Illinois, Michigan, Florida and New York.

David Shoop practices regularly before federal and state courts, as well as government and administrative agencies. In addition to his product liability and fire cause and origin expertise, David Shoop has recently obtained a $5,036,489.00 jury verdict in an insurance bad faith matter originating from the catastrophic failure of industrial equipment. The verdict included an award of $3,500,000.00 in punitive damages for claims handling practices which were in conscious disregard of the rights of its insured.

David earned his law degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Law in Cleveland, Ohio, and proudly served on active duty in the U.S. Army in both Karlsruhe and Hanau Germany. Prior to forming SHOOP | A PROFESSIONAL LAW CORPORATION, David was a partner in the oldest law firm in Beverly Hills, California.
