Baby Monitor Recall Lawyer

The product liability lawyers at SHOOP | A PROFESSIONAL LAW CORPORATION again warn consumers of a recent, voluntary product recall involving Mayborn, USA Baby Monitors due to associated strangulation and entrapment hazards. 

This voluntary product recall is being instituted in conjunction and cooperation with the United States Consumer Products Safety Commission ("CPSC"). Consumers are advised to cease the use of these recalled products immediately (unless otherwise instructed) and note that it is a federal offense to sell or otherwise attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

The date of this voluntary product recall is July 24, 2014, and was designated recall number 14-239 for product and recall identification purposes. For more complete product identification purposes, this recall involves unites designated "model 1082S" for the Tommee Tippee® Monitor with Movement Sensor Pads.

The product defect associated with these various units involves the unit's sensor pad, which children can pull upon the cord attached to the sensor pad and become entangled or otherwise wrap the cord and pad about the child's neck, thereby posing obvious strangulation and entrapment hazards.

Currently, there are approximately 25,000 such units currently in distribution within the continental United States and another 3,500 in Canada. This voluntary product recall involves two (2) such models of the Tommee Tippee Movement as well as the Sound Baby Monitors with Sensor Pads. The units arrive in three (3) different parts; the parent unit, the baby unit and the movement sensor pad.

The pad comes in a white color with an accompanying ten (10) foot cord that runs from the sensor pad to the monitor unit for the baby. Both of these models are sold with sensor pads that fit beneath the crib mattress of the baby and are supposed to sound an alarm if there is no movement detected for a period twenty (20) seconds. There is a keypad and readable screen place just above the keypad on both the parent unit and the baby unit. These various, recalled products include models 1094S and 1082S. Model 1094S is equipped with a night vision, video camera. Consumers can locate these various model numbers on the bottoms of the bases of the individual unit's rechargers and additionally on the underside portion of the camera.

Consumers should immediately cease the use of these recalled products. These were sold at various such Toys "R" Us and Babies "R" Us stores and additionally online at amazon.com. These units sold at retail for price points of approximately $150, since September of 2011. They were imported by Mayborn USA, Inc., and manufactured in China.
