Defective Childrens Products

There is no law firm more concerned with defective products which affect children more than SHOOP | A PROFESSIONAL LAW CORPORATION. We are a Beverly Hills, California-based law firm that represents children and their families injured by defective products across the nation.

The product liability lawyers at SHOOP | A PROFESSIONAL LAW CORPORATION have also successfully represented children and their families in Canada, and our lawyers will do everything we can to ensure that products marketed to children are safe and effective.

The United Sates Consumer Products Safety Commission ("CPSC") takes this mission very seriously as well. The Commission, created by the Consumer Product Safety Act, is an executive enforcement agency that oversees product recalls and standards enforcement for a wide range of consumer products, and one of their more daunting tasks is to make sure that children's products are safe for their intended use.

To that end, CPSC, in conjunction and cooperation with Bexco, recently announced jointly a voluntary product recall involving Franklin & Ben Mason 4-in-1 Convertible Cribs. These various cribs are subject to recall due to associated fall and entrapment hazards. The CPSC recommends and advises that parents immediately cease the use of these products with their children unless and until otherwise instructed. Bear in mind that it is a federal offense to sell, or otherwise attempt to resell, a recalled, consumer product of any kind.

These various cribs were recalled on August 19, 2014, and assigned CPSC Recall Number: 14-258. The product defect associated with these various, Franklin & Ben Mason 4-in-1 Convertible Cribs involves the front-portion of the crib, which can potentially separate from its side-panels, thereby creating both a hazardous and dangerous gap which a child or infant can easily slip out of or otherwise become trapped in between these side and front panels.

There currently about one thousand such units currently in distribution within the continental United States and another hundred in Canada. For product identification purposes, this recall involves the Franklin & Ben Mason, 4-in-1 cribs with corresponding, model #5601. These recalled products were manufactured and assembled from the approximated time periods of January, 2012 to August, 2012, and these referenced model numbers and manufacturing dates and codes are located on labels within the inside of the crib's side-panels.

Further located on these labels are purchase and serial numbers, and the following identifiers will confirm if the unit in your possession is subject to recall. The cribs with the following identifiers are subject to recall:

H004548; and

These cribs are made of wood sideboards and solid wood rails on the back and front which can convert to daybeds, a full-sized bed or, otherwise, a toddler bed. The recalling firm is already in receipt of over a dozen reports from the field of the front portions of these various units separating from the side-panels of the crib. They were sold at various retailers and online, particularly those retailers specializing in juvenile products. These retail dates range from January of 2012 to June of 2014. The cribs retailed at price points ranging from $600 and $700.
They were manufactured by Bexco Enterprises Inc., of Montebello, California and manufactured in Taiwan.

The product liability lawyers at SHOOP | A PROFESSIONAL LAW CORPORATION have always written extensively about the U.S. Consumer Products Safety Commission's zero tolerance policy for defective children's products.
