Honda Generator Recall Lawyers

The product liability lawyers at SHOOP | A PROFESSIONAL LAW CORPORATION again remind consumers of a recent, voluntary product recall involving American Honda Gas-Powered Generators. 

This product recall is being instituted in cooperation and conjunction with the United States Consumer Products Safety Commission ("CPSC") due to associated impact hazards and also deficiencies in the owner's manuals, which contain errors and duplicate pages. Important product warning information is additionally missing from the subject owner's manuals.

The product defect associated with these various, Honda Gas-Powered Generators involves the rear-frame support, which has a tendency to fail during normal operational lifting, thereby posing an impact hazard to users. Additionally, the owner's manual can contain either duplicative or missing pages which could cause consumers to fail to receive significant operational or other safety information related to the product.

There are currently just over 8,100 such recalled units currently in distribution within the United States. For product identification purposes, this recall involves the 2014 Honda gas-powered EU7000 generator. The subject model on recall is a 7,000-watt generator and is red in color with an accompanying, black-colored frame. The recalled unit has folding handles and two (2) wheels on opposite sides of these handles.

The generators measure approximately 33 inches in length by 26 inches inches in width. They are approximately 27 inches tall when the handles are in a folded position. The words, "Honda," and "EU7000is" can be found on the sides of the recalled generators and "Honda" can be found additionally on the fronts of the units directly above its control panels.

The full model name "EU7000isN AT" is on the UPC label near the fuel level indicator on the top of the generator. Recalled generators have a serial number in the range EEJD-1000001 to EEJD 1006288. The serial number is on the inside of the side cover that is to the right of the control panel. Honda is already in receipt of multiple reports from the field of these units suffering rear frame support failures. Additionally, Honda is in receipt of multiple such reports of owner's manuals with errors and/or missing pages.
Remedy

CPSC recommends that consumers immediately cease the use of these recalled generators and additionally seek replacement of the defective owner's manuals. Honda has advised the Commission that it is undertaking to notify and contact all registered customers directly.

These recalled Honda products were sold at retail Sold at various, Honda Power Equipment dealers nationally from approximately June of 2014 to July of 2014. These generators retailed at price points ranging from approximately $4,500. They were imported by American Honda Motor Co., of Torrance, California and manufactured by Honda Siel Power Products of India.
