Fuel Hose Recall Lawyers

The burn injury lawyers at SHOOP | A PROFESSIONAL LAW CORPORATION advise consumers of a recent, voluntary product recall. This recall, initiated by Franklin Fueling Systems in cooperation and conjunction with the United Sates Consumer Products Safety Commission ("CPSC"), involves the Hardwall Fuel Curb Hose Due. The product recall is being instituted due to associated fire and explosion hazards.

The date of this voluntary product recall was September 30, 2014 and assigned recall number 14-285 by the Commission. For product identification purposes, the recall implicates the Green 1" FLEX-INGTM FLEX-ON Hardwall Curb Hose crimp and the product defect associated with these hoses involves the crimp on the fuel hose, itself, which can loosen - thereby causing fuel to leak and presenting a substantial explosion and fire hazard.

There are currently about 6,700 such units currently in distribution within the United States
and for additional product identification purposes, the FLEX-INGTM FLEX-ON hose is approximately one (1) inch in diameter - and ranges in length from approximately nine (9) inches to 100 ft., to include several, made to order lengths. Some have swivel and others have fixed fittings. This recalled product is intended for use in connection with gas station nozzles to disburse refined fuels like diesel, gas, ethanol and biodiesel blends. These various, recalled hoses were sold in green, black, red, blue or yellow coloring and contain a date code of the following:

M1014-M3014 [in WWYY format]

Model numbers:
FLHFR3XX XXX; or
FLXHW3XX XXX.

Additionally on products with fixed fittings, the model numbers are located on labels on the crimp ferrule. On recalled products with swivel fittings, applicable model numbers are located on the labels of the boxes in which they were shipped. Lastly, the names, "FLEX-INGTM , FLEX-ON," or "FLEXSTEEL FUTURA" will be found printed at various locations on the hoses.
Incidents/Injuries

These recalled products and fire hazards were sold to distributors and gasoline stations nationally from the period March of 2014 to July of 2014 and sold at retail ranging from $20 to $560 depending upon length of the product, which was manufactured by Franklin Fueling Systems Inc., of Madison, Wisconsin and manufactured entirely within the United States.
